Thanks for the birthday wishes

Our days are going a bit slower now but we're doing our best to keep busy. Kai Thu came back to church on Sunday. He disappeared for a while and we thought he must have moved back to Canada or Vietnam or something. Turns out he was just sick. We don't know what to do with him but we will start teaching him again and hopefully figure him out. We may consider using our iPads to Face-Time the Chinese Elders if that might help. He also speaks French but I'm not sure how well; Elder Embulu can try using French on him. We'll just try to communicate to him in every language he knows. I'm not sure if it's a language barrier problem. We just have a hard time understanding his concerns. We've been stopping by a lot of less-actives and finding people along the way. A lot of them have moved but we talked to our Bishop and he gave us a good list of people to stop by. Susan is still doing well. She gets along really well with everyone. It's like she's been coming for years.

Our iPads are nice but there's not a lot we can do on them yet. We still don't have Facebook and we don't have the aria book/ planner app yet. We can do other things but it's very restricted. We've got the gospel library app and we can e-mail and Face-Time when we have wi-fi. We can also show videos from church websites but that's about it.

I loved the birthday video that Mum made! It made me want to watch the movie. Thanks for everyone who wished  me a happy Birthday. I didn't really do much this year. We didn't make a massive sandwich or anything. Thank you also for the interesting Canadian facts. Maybe if you could send me a list of things that come from Canada or people who are Canadian. I'll need it by Saturday. We can check our e-mails before then. I'll make some poutine for people to try but I've never seen cheese curds here so I'll have to just use normal cheese. It will be fun! We've got some exiting things coming up. On the 12th of June Elder Holland will be coming to Hyde Park Chapel and President Millar is trying to get the entire mission there to hear him speak.

Good to hear from you all!

Representing Canada

Susan's baptism went great. She's doing very well. We took her to the temple with our ward mission leader and a recent convert who's been struggling and everyone had a real uplifting experience. The members have been really nice and supportive and she is very happy to have found the Church. She will be a good member; She reads the Book of Mormon for two hours every day and looks up words in the dictionary and gets the meaning. Now we need to find more people like her. Elder Embulu is doing good. I think he was stressed with being a new District leader and preparing for the baptism. I still don't understand him sometimes but we're communicating more.

We try to work with the members a lot. We took Susan to a different member's home every time we taught her and now she knows a lot of the members really well and feels welcome in the ward. We are hoping to continue to bring her to members homes for dinner appointments. The members do an amazing job fellowshippig new members in the ward; we would just like to help the members to invite a friend of theirs. I'll talk to you all next week!

almost forgot. We're having a world culture activity in our ward and I'm representing Canada. Could you (anyone) send me a number of facts about Canada and a list of Canadian things?

Under Attack

Hello!

It was nice to talk to you yesterday. Things here are going good. Elder Embulu is very hard to understand sometimes, which has made it hard to get to know him. We've been pretty busy all week with moves and DLC and getting the iPads all set up as well as preparing for Susan's baptism coming up this Saturday. We've also got loads of exchanges coming up as this is a five week transfer and we need to get all the exchanges in. Then there's the zone conference coming up. This transfer will probably go by really fast. It feels like it's been a long time since I've led an area but it's been running smoothly so far. It usually starts off a little ruff but our days have been full and we haven't got lost. Our planning has been going well too. We'd like to take Susan to the temple before her baptism so we're trying to arrange things for that. Problem is the recent convert we were planning on asking for a ride is not doing too well right now and we don't want to over-book her. She recently lost her job and is very busy finding a new one. She's also really struggling with her testimony. But she still comes to church and the ward has been a great support.

Skype

Hey how is everyone doing?

Things are going well. Moves is in a couple of days and I'm staying but my companion is moving. I will be getting a new companion named Elder Embulu. He's from Paris but his parents were from the Congo. Elder Goldsmith was companions with him before.
Susan is still doing good. We have taken her to a different member's home each time we have taught her. It's great that she's meeting all these members and making friends. We're struggling to find new investigators but that's something we're going to have to work on.
We haven't got our iPads yet but we should get them this week. It's going to be very different although our missionary work will be the same. But all of our books and paperwork will be on our iPads and eventually we will be able to use Facebook. That will be really weird. We'll also be using them for e-mailing so i don't think we will be going to the Apple store to e-mail any more.
It takes too long to type stories. I actually have no time. My companion is rushing me to finish up.

I'll talk to you next week. On Skype.

iPads

Not much to say about this week.
Things are going good. One of our recent converts in our ward is struggling because of some anti-material she came across while looking for the General Conference broadcast. She still comes to church and everything; she's just confused. She has such a huge desire to learn and absorb information. I've been praying really hard for her and this morning in my study I found a perfect Ensign talk for her to read. I think it will help her out a lot.
Susan is doing amazing. She's preparing to be baptized on the sixteenth of May. She's progressing really fast and we may even be able to move the baptismal date closer but we'll see how things work out. She still smokes but she has cut down a lot.
This week we will be receiving training for iPads. I still don't know much about it yet but the mission will be using iPads starting next transfer. Also this is my trainer Elder Johnson's last transfer so he will be going home next week. You may be able to see him soon.

Well it was nice to hear from you all again. Have you seen the new avengers? The members are telling us all about it. I'll bet Dad is exited for the new StarWars movie. There's a young kid in our ward who's training me to be a Jedi. He keeps calling me his apprentice and asking me how my training is going. Talk to you all next week.

Plane Home

This week was good. We had a good exchange and we did a lot of contacting this week. Gilbert came to an activity so now we know he's still alive; He's jus very busy. It would be nice if he answered our calls and texts though. At least now we know that he sees our texts if he knew about the activity. We've got a new investigator named Susan and she seems nice. We're really trying to get the members involved and we've already got a perfect fellowshipper for her and we'll be teaching Susan at this members home.
Apart from that we have done some service and have been trying to be in contact with the members more. Our new ward mission leader Pedro has been a big help. He's doing really good and I think with his help and with the great relationship we have with the Bishop we should be able to get the members more involved.
Well there's not much else to say really. How does Mum like her new phone? Is she getting the new Apple Watch? They have them on display here at the Apple store; they look really cool. Very expensive though. Hope you all have a good week.

Oh by the way I leave on the plane July 22 for home.

Relationship with God

We have had a busy week. We've done a lot of traveling for Zone Training, the musical fireside, conference, exchanges, and reaching some people that are too far to take a bus. I feel like I've spent most of this week on a train. Other than all the travel, I did catch a cold so I felt a bit miserable for a few days but I had to work through it and I'm feeling better now. I'm glad I decided to just work through it because we wouldn't have got much done this week otherwise.
Unfortunately Dean dropped us this week and he and Kim decided they are not ready for baptism yet. I think Kim is the one making all the decisions and Dean just goes with it. We are all very confused and don't know what she will decide next. But they are in the sisters hands.
We really want to focus on the members now and try to help them do missionary work. We're hoping this will eventually help us to get some investigators that we will teach more than once.
We met this guy on the street from Romania. His name is Alin. We invited him to the Easter activity and he didn't show up but then he called us this week to meet up with him. He's a cool guy but teaching him was hard. He just wants to make some friends as he doesn't know anyone here. We're more than happy to help him make friends but he also made it clear that he's looking specifically for girls. We made it very clear that we're here to help him build a relationship with God and he appreciated that.

Hope you all recover from you'r holiday and have a good week!
