iPads

Not much to say about this week.
Things are going good. One of our recent converts in our ward is struggling because of some anti-material she came across while looking for the General Conference broadcast. She still comes to church and everything; she's just confused. She has such a huge desire to learn and absorb information. I've been praying really hard for her and this morning in my study I found a perfect Ensign talk for her to read. I think it will help her out a lot.
Susan is doing amazing. She's preparing to be baptized on the sixteenth of May. She's progressing really fast and we may even be able to move the baptismal date closer but we'll see how things work out. She still smokes but she has cut down a lot.
This week we will be receiving training for iPads. I still don't know much about it yet but the mission will be using iPads starting next transfer. Also this is my trainer Elder Johnson's last transfer so he will be going home next week. You may be able to see him soon.

Well it was nice to hear from you all again. Have you seen the new avengers? The members are telling us all about it. I'll bet Dad is exited for the new StarWars movie. There's a young kid in our ward who's training me to be a Jedi. He keeps calling me his apprentice and asking me how my training is going. Talk to you all next week.

Plane Home

This week was good. We had a good exchange and we did a lot of contacting this week. Gilbert came to an activity so now we know he's still alive; He's jus very busy. It would be nice if he answered our calls and texts though. At least now we know that he sees our texts if he knew about the activity. We've got a new investigator named Susan and she seems nice. We're really trying to get the members involved and we've already got a perfect fellowshipper for her and we'll be teaching Susan at this members home.
Apart from that we have done some service and have been trying to be in contact with the members more. Our new ward mission leader Pedro has been a big help. He's doing really good and I think with his help and with the great relationship we have with the Bishop we should be able to get the members more involved.
Well there's not much else to say really. How does Mum like her new phone? Is she getting the new Apple Watch? They have them on display here at the Apple store; they look really cool. Very expensive though. Hope you all have a good week.

Oh by the way I leave on the plane July 22 for home.

Relationship with God

We have had a busy week. We've done a lot of traveling for Zone Training, the musical fireside, conference, exchanges, and reaching some people that are too far to take a bus. I feel like I've spent most of this week on a train. Other than all the travel, I did catch a cold so I felt a bit miserable for a few days but I had to work through it and I'm feeling better now. I'm glad I decided to just work through it because we wouldn't have got much done this week otherwise.
Unfortunately Dean dropped us this week and he and Kim decided they are not ready for baptism yet. I think Kim is the one making all the decisions and Dean just goes with it. We are all very confused and don't know what she will decide next. But they are in the sisters hands.
We really want to focus on the members now and try to help them do missionary work. We're hoping this will eventually help us to get some investigators that we will teach more than once.
We met this guy on the street from Romania. His name is Alin. We invited him to the Easter activity and he didn't show up but then he called us this week to meet up with him. He's a cool guy but teaching him was hard. He just wants to make some friends as he doesn't know anyone here. We're more than happy to help him make friends but he also made it clear that he's looking specifically for girls. We made it very clear that we're here to help him build a relationship with God and he appreciated that.

Hope you all recover from you'r holiday and have a good week!

Motivation

So not much has happened this week but it ended on a good note. I've been feeling very positive even though I feel a cold coming that I'm not exited for. We seem to have found a lot of energy and motivation for contacting by the end of the week and have been able to meet lots of nice people we hope to meet again. We've also been busy with service. We helped a recent converts son fix up his old kit car. He told us about this cool car museum; apparently it has a bunch of cars from the TopGear challenges. Hopefully we have time to go some time; he said he'd take us but tickets are £20. Easter has made the las couple of days really busy with ward activities and general conference. General conference was really good; I got a lot out of it. It felt like a very comforting conference. I guess that makes sense as it was an easter conference. We have a new investigator and baptismal date named Dean and he's a referral from the sisters. He wants to be baptised but he struggles with the word of wisdom. There is also a lot of confusion about him and his partner's plans to get married. We've made it clear what they need to do to prepare for baptism (the sisters are teaching his partner) but they keep changing plans without letting us know. At this point we don't know what they're planning on doing. We haven't been able to see Gilbert (the man who thinks we glow) but hopefully we'll see him tonight at FHE. He hasn't got back to us on that. He's been busy but we're still in contact.

Looks like you had lots of fun in vegas. Hope you enjoyed your Easter!

Miracle Monday

It's been a long week but not too bad. It's getting harder for me to keep track of time and remember things that have happened in the week. It started off really good with a miracle on Monday
We do a family home evening every Monday for recent converts and investigators at the chapel. As we were on our way to the chapel to get things ready we passed by a man going the other way and simply said "hello" as he walked by. Later as we were just starting family home evening the same guy walked in and asked if he could join us. He said that when he saw us it was like we were glowing and felt something pulling him to the church. He really enjoyed the lesson and got involved and said he felt a "zing" in his body during the prayer. We had a lesson with him later in the week and it went well from what I heard. (We were on splits so Elder Goldsmith taught him with Pedro our new ward mission leader.) He's a really nice guy and were exited to continue teaching him.

Have another splendid week and don't forget to check out the new easter video and website "Because He Lives"!

Good in Basingstoke

Hello once again.

We're doing good here in Basingstoke. Transfers is this week and we found that neither of us are moving. Many of the members were happy to hear that we were staying for another six weeks. We've got a good relationship with the ward but I think we can also do better. We take some of the young men out with us regularly and we see the bishop often but I think we could visit with other members more often. How else are we going to help them with their missionary work. Many of the members are really willing to come on teaches with us so that's great. We got a new ward mission leader and he's great. His name is Pedro and he's a returned missionary. He's really enthusiastic about his calling and he gave a really good talk in church on Sunday. We've been doing a lot of contacting last week to pick up new investigators. We have some return appointments that we're exited for and we've also been trying to contact some of our formers with some luck. But other than that not much to say about the week. So we had the lesson with the lady who came to church and it went really well. She fed us and her husband was there and we taught the restoration. She seemed to understand everything very well, asked good questions and didn't seem to have any problems. She accepted the commitment to be baptised and was really exited for our next appointment. But later we got a text from her and she cancelled our appointment and said she was no longer interested. I'm not sure exactly why but we'll see if we can somehow contact her again. At least she has regular contact with the members as she works with a lot of them.

There are some missionaries here that use Facebook to do missionary work but only those who are assigned to do so. We've got news this week that the mission will be getting iPads sometime in May so I'm not sure if that will change things in terms of missionaries using Facebook. I don't think everyone will get iPads either.

We were walking back to our flat for lunch a few days ago and we saw this guy (probably our age) just laying in the grass with his shoes off not far from the flat. I thought he was just enjoying the sun but we later saw from out our flat window a big police van and about six police officers around him. He was trying to walk and was just falling over everything and stumbling around. He was very drunk. Finally the police put him in the back of the van and drove off. It was fun to watch.

Have a good week.

Christmas Tie

Hello all:

Last week was a pretty good week. We have a new investigator who came to church yesterday. A member brought her and she seems awesome. She really enjoyed church and said she wanted to come back. She got involved in gospel principals class and learned a lot of things for the first time and loved it. She even offered to feed us this week. We're really exited to start teaching her. We are also considering picking up Khai Thu again but we first want to think of what we need to do to help him progress so that it's not just a waist of time. He is still coming to church and I asked him if he's still reading the Book of Mormon and he said he is. I just feel like there's more we could do for him but I'm not sure what yet.

We had zone conference on Saturday and it was really good. The main thing I took from it is to find more people to teach. I want to focus on that as well as the trying to recognize revelation for the investigators we have. We luckily have a very good relationship with the members so we'll continue to work with them and help them do missionary work. We also need to focus on talking to everyone. I think that will help us get motivated and if we have good planning we should be able to accomplish our goals and find people to teach. After zone conference we of coarse got our mail. I got your valentines card Mum thank you so much. I also got your Christmas gift Britt; Thank you so much for the cool ties! I'll send a picture of me and my companion wearing them.

Until next week:
