Baptism
Things are actually going very well. We had lots of lessons this week and I'm starting to get the hang of being social. I don't keep a journal. I've actually brought one with intentions to start writing in it but it's hard. I'll try to tell you more about my experiences.
Izzys dad came to her baptism and also her confirmation yesterday and he's not a member. He is a really nice guy. Her mom is more active now.
Alex's birthday was this week and we made him brownies. He's still struggling with his addictions but I think he's doing better.
I'll try writing you guys a letter today. Justin is a beast. I don't know how you do it Justin.

Love talking to you! (would be nice if he loved talking just a little bit more)

FUFU FOR DINNER

Hi family! I'm not dead yet! I can't wait until I get your letters. I'll probably get them soon. Feel free to send some jerky, or a nice root beer (don't worry I'm not starving). We had fufu last Saturday at a member's house. It's a south African food we had to eat it with our hands. I wouldn't suggest serving it at mocha cabanas. It's sort of like mashed potatoes but really thick like a dough. It's not to bad at first but after a wile you can't swallow any more without gagging. But it didn't taste awful. I have pictures of me and the other missionaries eating some but i forgot my camera today so no pictures this week. I'll be sure to send the pictures next week. Does Baxter miss me? My allergies has been bugging me lately. There is no way any John Wayne movie could be better than The Good The Bad And The Ugly. Ask Justin; he'll tell you. We are trying to find ways to get the ward involved in missionary work. We have some members that are really good (The Tucker family is grate) but we need the whole ward to get involved. Missionary work is not just giving away pass along cards. That's actually rather ineffective. I think church activities might be a very good way to do missionary work. I haven't received your letters yet but I imagine I will soon if you sent them directly to my flat (Flat3, Elgin Court, 12 Bramley Hill, South Croydon, Surrey CR2 6LY) rather than the mission office. I will wright a letter eventually and send it your way.

We will post 1 picture that Elder Fisher's Mission Persident sent to Mom and Dad. This is of his mission President the presidents wife and Elder Fishers companion. This is a picture of a picture.

We will post any picture that Elder Fisher sends next week

Debit card solved

After his last weeks e-mail both Alysa and Mike were at the bank. Don't know if it was the bank or what but things are solved. He wrote: "ya i'm ok, i just wanted to buy a new bag, i got money from my card the next day so there's no problem."

This weeks email came in   "I'm still alive. I got your

letters at zone training on the third  of September. I love

them. If you want to send me more it's

probably best if you send it to my flat. the address is: The

Resident, Flat3, Elgin Court, 12 Bramley Hill, South

Croydon, Surrey CR2 6LY. I will maybe send you guys

letters some time. I lied about Izzys age. She's 9 and she's

very exited to be baptised. Alex is awesome. He gave me

and my companion awesome hair cuts. We are planning on

going to the churches addiction recovery program with him

some time. Daren is a 14 year old who is not a member but

he goes to early morning seminary. we are working with him

but I think his uncle and aunt (whom he lives with) are

hesitant about the church. We are trying to befriend

them. We are always busy as missionaries. Last Sunday I

gave a talk in church. I didn't have much time to wright it so

half of it was said on the spot. It went surprisingly well. Love

hearing from you guys. I'm running out of time for emailing.

Then he sent some pictures to go along with the note. First

off is the library where he writes these wonderful e-mails:

First Baptism & Hair Cut

Another letter from Brandon.

I don't have many pictures and i don't have any of Elder Johnson but I'll take some and send them to you next week. I think i can only send three pictures at a time. The computers at this library are a bit weird. But they are upgrading their computers so we'll see if things work then. I'll try sending some now. The first two are from the MTC and the last one is from this morning. I have a question about my ATB card. Can i use it at all here? I tried using it at an ATM and it didn't work. I tried it at a store and it didn't work. We have one baptism in two weeks from now. Her name is Lizzy, she's 10 years old and her mom is less active. But her mom wants her to be baptized and she does as well. There's a barber named Alex and he is an alcoholic. He's an awesome guy but he's having a really hard time with addictions. He feels really bad about how it affects his wife and kid. He loves the Mormon messages videos. He's cutting our hair today. Most other people I've only met once. The Members in the ward are awesome. We had dinner at the Tucker family a few days ago and they're grate. Did you go to Fort Macleod when they were filming that movie? How is everyone doing? Any changes around the house?

New Email :D

We received another letter from Brandon this morning! He doesn't say much but hopefully throughout his mission his emails get longer and longer. We have told him about our blog and how we are getting views from South Korea and other places around the world! Here is what he has to say....

"Hello I'm thrilled  to hear about my korean fans. I have not received your mail yet but i am exited to see what it is.  My companions name is actually Elder Johnson. He lived in calgary for 15 years. The people we meet on the street are amazing. Lots of them are very nice and very interesting. There are lots of nice cars here. I'm amazed at how the big buses can navigate through tight spaces and bussy roads so quickly. We take those double decker buses every day."

A Missionary's Tale : There and Back Again. By Bilbo Fisher

August 7th
The day had finally come . Brandon departs for his two year London England South Mission. We had an early morning and arrived at the Calgary airport at 9:00am, said our last goodbyes and he was in the air by 11:00am. Although he was reluctant to give hugs and kisses goodbye, as Brandon always is, we will miss him very much and we know he will miss us.

We are so proud of our missionary! Although two years is a very long time to be away, we know this is the place where he needs to be. We are excited to see Brandon transform into a great missionary and excited to share his experiences with you!
August 8th
He arrived at Chicago and made it through into England easily. "Chicago wasn't too hard.", he said. He says he didn't sleep at all on this 7 hour flight, yet he does not feel jet lag. The only problem is he forgot his razor at home.
August 14th
We received an email from Brandon containing information about his companions and details of MTC and Temple Square:
"I already have a companion here in the mtc named Elder Hart. He's awesome, slightly shy. It's his birthday tomorrow and we're buying him cake today. It's p-day today so I may be able to pick up a razor for myself. I've been using my room mates electric razor so far. I have 4 room mates and they're all wonderful. There is someone in my district from Cardston. He's awesome to. I don't think we've known each other before. Apparently my Canadian accent is thicker than his. I didn't know I had an accent but everyone says it's noticable. The mtc is really nice. The food is good, there are lots of plants and a really lovely pond. Everything is green and clean. We went in the temple today. Good temple. The temple square is almost perfectly kept. All the bushes and even trees are trimmed in perfect rectangular shapes, the grass is cut ridiculously short and the lawns or gardens are perfectly flat. It looks fake like golf grass. We did meet some apostles, President Ballard, Elder Holland and Elder Nelson. So far its been a good experience. I feel like I'm already learning. I haven't seen much culture yet because we are pretty much isolated at the mtc and most of the elders and sisters here are American. But maybe I'll see some things today for p-day. I'll be sure to take pictures."

August 22nd
As Brandon promised, we received a few pictures in the next email. We received the the group photo in front of the MTC sign.

He also sent a picture of the Preston Temple.

This is the last picture he send that he took on top of a Double Decker bus. He didn't have time to write much this day but this is the little bit he did have to say:
"All the buildings here are really cool looking. My new companion is from Raymond. My new area is South Croydon Surrey."
